Cicadas !!!

Every few years, we see a few of these unusual bugs around. We've never had
a major infestation. And according to the scientists, they are not expecting
one in 2009. I found this hatched shell on the end of one of my sidewalk bricks
this morning.
This is the cicada cocoon, so to speak, it looks like a large bug. The back
breaks open and the cicada comes out. When it emerges it is a bright green.
But after opening and drying off, it changes color.

And so ends the short science lesson.
